This scene is a few steps from my Brooklyn studio. The neighborhood is changing so fast: Smith Street is now full of expensive restaurants and bars. Young German tourists have appeared with guide books. But the bodega behind the lamppost is still there. I thought I should paint this unpretentious corner before it loses its sweet character.
