Cooper Union Roofs, ver. II
watercolor, 28x21

My friend had a studio space in the back of a graphic arts businesson Broadway, at Astor Place. One day we went up to the roof. I knew I had to paint this scene. It said "New York" to me more than the Empire State Building.

I saw this view everyday when I worked across Broadway. The trees of Madison Square are bare and there's snow on the ground. The sun is brilliant in late winter.
